Meet The Author, Cerynn McCain

All the way from the Pacific Northwest, please welcome, Cerynn McCain:

Thank you for joining me today. Tell us in three words how you would best
describe your writing.

Um… Dark, Fantasy, Intricate.

Your book, Inhibited, was released on April 5th, 2017. Share a passage that you’d like for us to enjoy.

“Living souls don’t belong to anyone.” He hissed at The General, and his fire burned the cabin around us. “She’s not yours to own.” “She’s been mine since birth.”
The General lunged at the flaming man, but he danced out of the way of the knife. Fire poured from his hands, and consumed The General. Fire wouldn’t kill him, but it slowed him down. The General’s eyes met mine as his sick laugh rose over the flames.
“You will be mine. I found you once. I’ll find you again.”

You’ve been presented with the opportunity to be a best-selling author, but can never write again, or write forever, but never have a bestseller. Which scenario
sounds more tempting?

Keep writing, I would go insane if I couldn’t write.

If you could live on a college campus and never leave, or live in a small town but be
able to travel, which one would you choose?

Small town and travel. I already live in a small town, and I love it, so that wouldn’t
be hard.

Okay, how about in an amusement park or in an airport?

Amusement park. I’m really not a fan of airports.

And how about Australia or Scotland?

Scotland! Oh I’d love to go to Scotland.

Who is your favorite 90’s band (I’m thinking Counting Crows, Blink 182, Hootie &
the Blowfish)?

I’m not really a music person, so I don’t think I know any 90’s bands. I’ve probably
heard them, but I doubt I could name them.

Are there any good bands out there today that we’ll talk about in 50 years?

Again, not really a music person, so I’m not sure.

And what about your favorite comedy on TV (My favorite is still The Office)?

Friends. I have the whole series memorized.

Is there anything you’re currently working on?

I’m working on the sequel to Inhibited.

Who is your favorite author and if you could ask him/her one question, what
would it be?

It’s a tie between three. Frank Peretti. Karen Kingsbury, and George R.R. Martin. I
would ask what inspires their stories. They’re all complex and unique, and I just
want to understand!

Lightning round:

Ocean or mountains? Mountains. Preferably with a view of water, but mountains all the way.

Yogurt or ice cream? Chips and Salsa. I don’t like yogurt or ice cream.

M & M’s or Skittles? Still Chips, I don’t like sweets.

Jimmy Fallon or Stephen Colbert? Jimmy Fallon.

Happy or sad ending to a novel? Sad Endings stick with you longer. If it breaks my soul, I love it.

Beer or wine? Coffee. But if I have to pick, I would say I don’t know, I haven’t really had either.

Flying or driving? Driving. But someone else driving so I can write.

Hemingway or Twain? Twain. I grew up with Twain and wasn’t intruduced to Hemingway until much later and have a hard time getting into his stuff. It’s all good, I just struggle.

You’re stranded on a desert island and you can take two things with you, as well as
two people. What and who are you bringing?

Survival Kit and a Knife, with my mom who’s a nurse, and my friend who’s a

You’re able to sit down with any leader in world history. Who would you choose,
what would you talk about, and would you rather have him/her over to your house
or meet at their place of royalty?

Queen Victoria. Her place. We’d talk about queenly things. Research for my books.

You can wish for one thing and one thing only, not world peace and no more
wishes. What’s it gonna be?

To be who God wants me to be in the lives of others.
