This was a different type of mystery/suspense novel, but one that I enjoyed. Diamond writes with a unique style that comforts you in one moment while shaking you in the next. What I enjoyed most was the fact that I didn’t know what was going to happen next. He kept me guessing, and the ending was another nice surprise. I gave it 4.5 stars and recommend this for anyone who likes suspense books with a bit of grit.

I loved this book. It had such a strange beginning that I couldn’t tell the direction it was headed, Then, at the perfect time, the mystery took on a life of its own. I enjoyed the mixture of love, suspense, betrayal, and forgiveness. The characters were messy, and the ending was unexpected, leading to 4.5 stars.

There were times when I couldn’t stand this book, and there were other moments when I really enjoyed the story. My biggest problem was with the main character, Ethan. His responses and actions went beyond the point of simple annoyance. He wasn’t believable, and his actions/speech took away from the mystery, which actually ended up being pretty good. I gave it 3 stars, yet I somehow still recommend it, but I’ll warn you to be prepared to become agitated.
This was a surprisingly good read. I particularly enjoyed Olivia’s character, her flaws, and her passion for her job. The mystery part of the book kept me guessing while the relationship aspects were also relatable. I will admit that I sort of saw the ending coming, but I didn’t see it exactly the way that Burke wrote it. I gave it 4.5 stars and definitely recommend this one.
