Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney

This book wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible either. I found myself confused at times, and some of the author’s language choices felt out of place. With that being said, there were nice twists, and she kept me guessing what would happen next. I gave it 3.5 stars, and if you enjoy psychological thrillers, you’ll probably like this one. To be honest, I’m still not sure what to think about this novel.

Kingdom in Chains by J.W. Zulauf

Let me start by saying that this isn’t a genre I normally read. I found myself pleasantly surprised by the immediate action and compelling story. Barloc is an interesting character who finds himself stuck in the worst of circumstances. I thought about this book when I wasn’t reading it, and this is the type of book that could be turned into a movie or TV show. I give it 4.5 stars and look forward to the next one.

The Good Widow by Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke

I really enjoyed this book. They did such a nice job of mixing mystery, suspense, and even a bit of romance. While I did catch on near the end of the book, I found myself sucked into the story throughout. The characters came off as likeable and real. I give it 5 stars and recommend it for anyone who likes a good thriller/suspense/mystery.

Idaho by Emily Ruskovich

I enjoyed this book, but I found myself confused at times. I liked that it had so many different layers, yet I finished the novel feeling incomplete. I won’t give away any spoilers, but the ending did not provide me with the answers I was looking for. Still, this was an intriguing and well-written novel that is worth reading. I gave it four stars, but I still feel like I need to know more about the main characters.

Naked: Stripped by a Man and Hurricane Katrina by Julie Freed

This was an interesting book and out of the normal genres I read. She went through something that I can’t relate to, and I applaud her for her ability to overcome two tragic life events at the same time. I found her journey compelling, and she kept me drawn in until the very end, though I did find it a little irritating that she painted herself as flawless throughout the book. There are two or three sides, at least, to every story, and I felt like she did everything exactly right while her ex was a complete ass. That may have been true, but it would have been nice to see some of her flaws along the way as well.
