Forgive Me, Alex by Lane Diamond

This was a different type of mystery/suspense novel, but one that I enjoyed. Diamond writes with a unique style that comforts you in one moment while shaking you in the next. What I enjoyed most was the fact that I didn’t know what was going to happen next. He kept me guessing, and the ending was another nice surprise. I gave it 4.5 stars and recommend this for anyone who likes suspense books with a bit of grit.

Before He Finds Her by Michael Kardos

I loved this book. It had such a strange beginning that I couldn’t tell the direction it was headed, Then, at the perfect time, the mystery took on a life of its own. I enjoyed the mixture of love, suspense, betrayal, and forgiveness. The characters were messy, and the ending was unexpected, leading to 4.5 stars.

Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney

This book wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible either. I found myself confused at times, and some of the author’s language choices felt out of place. With that being said, there were nice twists, and she kept me guessing what would happen next. I gave it 3.5 stars, and if you enjoy psychological thrillers, you’ll probably like this one. To be honest, I’m still not sure what to think about this novel.

The River at Night by Erica Ferencik

This was an interesting book. I thought that Ferencik did a nice job of mixing in the suspenseful elements while still progressing the story. I found myself wanting to know what would happen next and not being able to predict it, for the most part. If you enjoy a good mystery that’s set in the outdoors, then this one is for you. I gave it four stars instead of five due to some of the dialogue between the women lacking believability.

The Extraction (Claudia Belle #1) by C.S. Luis

This was another book out of my regular comfort zone, so I’ll do my best to review it based on the writing. The story was okay, but I did feel somewhat disappointed that the characters weren’t developed more. It’s definitely on the short side, but it’s the first in a series, so that should take care of itself. I enjoyed the main character, Claudia, and I’d like to see where she ends up and what happens on her journey. I gave it 3.5 stars, and if you like sci-fi books, you should enjoy this one.
