This was such a unique and interesting read. I didn’t know anything about it heading into the novel, but I found myself pleasantly surprised by the twist and turns it took. Henderson did a nice job mixing the emotions that come with death, mistakes in our lives, and what might happen in the afterlife. It was both mysterious and intriguing, while also sprinkling in a dash of humor here and there. I won’t give any spoilers away, but I recommend this book for a different and satisfying read.
This isn’t a genre that I normally read, but I enjoyed Pestel’s book. I liked her mixture of mystery, suspense, and humor. I felt that it was a bit short, but this is the first book in the series, so I suppose that makes up for it. It’s a quick read that doesn’t really lag at any point. I give it four stars and will definitely read the sequel.
This book was both beautiful and adventurous. I loved how he switched between the point of view of the boy and the old man. It’s perfect for adults and kids alike with moments to be enjoyed by both. It tugs at the heartstrings while also encouraging the reader to use their imagination like never before. I gave it 4.5 stars and am a big fan of Smucker’s writing.

So, I didn’t actually to mean to read this type of a book; I thought it was a regular mystery. I did not enjoy this book, but I will review it based on the writing and the story. For fans of the sci-fi genre, I think it’s probably okay. The writing was good enough, but the story just didn’t connect with me at all. I gave it three stars as I managed to get through the entire thing, but I’ve learned that this genre is not for me.
