Today, we’re sitting down with an author and an artist. Now as you may know, artists are known to be eclectic and Amanda is no different. She crosses genres and has a psychological suspense coming out soon. Enjoy getting to know this soon-to-be-star.
You’re an author and an artist. You’re forced to choose just one. What’s it gonna be?
At one time I would’ve probably said artist. But I’ve become addicted to words. And my notebook and pen can go anywhere with me, so I’d have to say author!
Share your favorite passage from one of your works in one paragraph or less.
“They closed up the bar and shut down the lights emerging into the night. Olive drove home with Victor Cash following her. When he honked and waved, and went his separate way, she couldn’t help but wish he were coming in. Wish he were younger. Wish he were single. Wish, and wonder. She had no way of knowing she’d brought the Devil right to her door.”
Excerpt from my novel, “Mary Contrary,” soon to be released by Crushing Hearts and Black Butterflies Publishing.
You’ve been presented with the opportunity to be a best-selling author but can never write again or write forever but never have a bestseller. Which scenario sounds more tempting?
Whew, that’s a tough one. Best seller is a big goal of mine. We’ll put it like this, I’d take the best seller, then renege on question one and go back to being an artist!
If you could live on a college campus and never leave or in a small town but be able to travel, which one would you choose?
I have a major Gypsy spirit, I could never be happy stuck in one place, so I would definitely have to choose small town with option to travel!
Okay, how about in a zoo or in a museum?
Another tough question! I do love museums, founts of inspiration, learning and knowledge! However, I also love animals, and I know my kids would be in seventh heaven living in a zoo among their peers, THE MONKIES!
And what about France or Brazil?
Again a tough one! I do love the sun and warmth so Brazil would be appealing. However, in the end I think I’d choose France, much more inspirational to a Goth girl like me!
Who is your favorite 90’s band (I’m thinking Counting Crows, Blink 182, Hootie & the Blowfish)?
Nirvana, no contest.
I love Nirvana!
And what about your favorite comedy on TV (I love The Office and Seinfeld)?
Roseanne. Was, is, and always will be my very favorite. We still watch it daily from the 200+ episodes living in our DVR!
Is there anything you’re currently working on?
Gosh, SO much! I am working on the sequel to my novel, “Mary Contrary” which is called “Six for Gold.” This one will include some magic and witchery. I am working on a novella of Gothic Horror for an anthology submission. I am also working on a second novel, yet to be titled, about a couple who raise their kids and then decide they don’t want to live to old age so they are going to party themselves to an early grave. However, they aren’t really good at being party animals, danger, or basically anything except being mom and dad. Also fine tuning some art submissions for a Crushing Hearts steampunk anthology! AND re-releasing some of my children’s books on Amazon!
Who is your favorite author and if you could ask him/her one question, what would it be?
V.C. Andrews- I would ask her if any of her stories are based on true stories.
Lightning round:
Ocean or mountains? Ocean
Strawberries or blueberries? Strawberries
Snickers or Milky Way? Snickers
Happy or sad ending to a novel? Happy
Beer or wine? Beer
Flying or driving? Flying
Hemingway or Twain? Twain
You’re stranded on a desert island and you can take two things with you as well as two people. What and who are you bringing?
Pen, paper, husband Adam and my kids (we’ll count them as one!)
You’re able to sit down with any leader in world history. Who would you choose, what would you talk about, and would you rather have him over to your house or meet at their place of royalty?
I would love to meet President Obama. I’d love to go to the White House and I would thank him for taking away my fear that my special needs child may not be able to receive medical care he needs because of preexisting conditions.
You can wish for one thing and one thing only, not world peace and no more wishes. What’s it gonna be? 🙂
I would wish that my husband Adam and I had gotten married when we were best friends and 18 year olds, instead of marrying other people and not marrying until later in life…
