Meet the Author: Rebecca Lamoreaux

Today, we’re talking with the ambitious, Rebecca Lamoreaux. She’s bold, she’s driven, and she’s incredibly likable! Enjoy getting to know this accomplished author and connect with her at her various sites below.

What is your favorite thing about writing?

I love creating stories and watching my characters grow and develop as they get through each situation. I love the way characters come to life with their own voices and their own personalities. And I love seeing people’s reactions when they read my books and realize that my stores are as good as I claim, and I actually am an author – I’m not just saying I am 🙂

If you could live in a foreign country, which one would you choose?

England! Absolutely it would be England! I lived there for a semester doing a study abroad, and I visited there for a couple of weeks a few years before that. I love it! I absolutely love the environment, the life style, the beauty, and the calmness. It was inspiring to me and I would return or move there in a heartbeat if I could.

What’s your favorite movie from the 90’s (I love Dumb and Dumber and With Honors)?

Sense and Sensibility is top of the list for me (and it’s one of the few movies that you can watch in Portuguese – which is my second language) But I also like: Independence Day, Mrs. Doubtfire, Groundhog Day, and of course the Toy Story Movies.

What are you working on now?

My work in Progress is a Historical Romance. It’s about a young lady, Miriam, who loses her sister to a stray bullet. Then, losing her mother within the same week, and having a father so consumed in his grief to notice his remaining daughter, she turns her depression into a plan of revenge. The only thing standing between her and her determination to get even is the man who pulled her from the overturned carriage. But she doesn’t know who he is. She only has a memory of his face and the knowledge that he is the only person who knows the identity of her sister’s murderer.

Who is your favorite author and if you could ask him/her one question, what would it be?

I have a lot of favorite authors ….. But my favorite book is Beauty by Robin McKinley, so for the sake of argument, let’s suppose I got to ask her a questions: I would ask, “What is your favorite book and how did it inspire you?”

Lightning round:

Ocean or mountains? Both. I have no preference. I absolutely love the mountains, they are calming to me and I grew up surrounded by them so they remind me of home. Plus I love hiking. But I absolutely love the ocean also since I am a California Girl at heart and I miss being close enough to the ocean that I can see it from our balcony, and visit it on a whim.

Chicken or steak? Steak

Comedy or drama? Comedy

Beer or wine? Neither, but if I did drink alcohol, I am almost certain I would be a wine drinker.

Cruise or cabin getaway? Cruise

You’re stranded on a desert island and you can take only three things with you. What are you bringing?

My husband, paper and pens/pencils (because for authors I believe these count as one item since we never have one without the other), and fresh water.

You’re able to sit down with any president in United States history. Who would you choose and what would you talk about?

George Washington – I would ask about his decision to be made President rather than King, even though the people wanted to make it so. And I would ask him what he imagined for this country that he helped found. What was it he hoped for in the next 200 years?

Rebecca Lamoreaux grew up reading every book she could get her hands on. Besides reading and writing, she enjoys dancing, singing, playing her viola, and riding her bike. After earning her BA in English – emphasis in Creative Writing, she traveled to and lived in several different countries, obtained many ideas for her writing, and studied literature in different cultures. She is a full time author and currently lives in Arizona with her husband.
